Abstract

A Hungarian SME has developed a zero emission climate and environmentally-friendly power plant. Its advantage is that it mixes two existing procedures (biodiesel produced from algae together with pyro-gas) and produces 100% green energy. The company is interested in selling their intellectual property.

Details

There are plasma plants around the world that eliminate waste and create pyro-gas. They burn the created pyro-gas and the heat that is being created is used to generate steam. There are certain types of it that do not produce heat energy from pyro-gas but rather operate a gas turbine with the addition of natural gas or mineral oil, and they produce electricity, utilising the waste heat of the gas turbine at the same time.

In many places of the world biodiesel is produced from algae. In these technologies algae is grown in a lake or in a tube system, it is circulated and nutrients and CO2 are added which foster their growth, and from the sieved algae-mass the oil with different methods is extracted (by pressing or using an ultrasonic method) and biodiesel is produced by esterizing the oil.

Nobody has combined these two technologies so far, that is, for the production of electricity; to drive the gas turbine, no-one before has used biodiesel produced from algae besides pyro-gas, to create, thus, 100 percent green energy.

The new technology developed by a Hungarian SME, besides uniting two already known procedures, contains a new way of environmental protection:

At gas turbines that produce electric energy as a by-product a so called exhaust fume is created, which contains CO2 and when it gets into the atmosphere, it harms the environment on a large scale.

According to the new solution, this evolving CO2 is not let into the atmosphere, but lead into the algae factory operating near the gas turbines and through the mixing system it is fed into the algae suspension as nutrient.

The above procedure provides electricity as a hundred percent green energy – partly because petroleum derivatives besides pyro-gas are not fed to drive the gas turbine, and also because the harmful material emission is zero.

The carbon dioxide content of the exhaust gas of the gas turbine is not emitted into the atmosphere, the filters that absorb the harmful materials get into the plasma reactor after use and since the plasma reactor can be used to destroy harmful materials they do not mean any load on the environment either.

The residual algae-marc that is created after the gaining of algae oil is mixed with the industrial and communal waste and put into the plasma reactor.

Innovative Aspects:
- It is based on existing technologies.
- 100% green energy.
- Huge efficiency with zero emission.
