Abstract

A Finnish SME has developed a new, innovative modular ballistic protection system which is a light weight modular fragment and bullet threat protection system consisting of two kind of panel modules, squares and triangles. The system is easy to adapt for various military, police and peace keeping applications. Partners from different fields of industry are being sought for the development of further applications and to exploit the existing know-how.

Details

Invented system is a well proven, innovative modular ballistic
protection system. This military certified and NATO approved lightweight fortification wall system is ideal for fast moving, mobile troops. Fortification walls can be built and dismantled in a few minutes allowing troops to be protected even during short stops or operations. Manufacturer of this product is an established producer of ballistic protection products and ISO 9001 as well as AQAP 2110 certified so high quality is guaranteed.

Protection System is simple and easy to use. Two basic shapes,
squares (approx. 18 kg/each) and triangles (approx. 8 kg/each), are
equipped with innovative quick coupling devices and supporting legs
enable the construction of a large number of various fortification
combinations in a very short time. All components are capable of
withstanding UV-radiation, fuel and oil spatters as well as temperatures
between -40 °C and +60 °C. Panels do not absorb moisture.

This multipurpose protection system is easy to adapt for various
military, police and peace keeping applications, e.g. protection during
military operations, mine clearing activities, military or police
sieges, UN personnel and property protection, as well as protection of
humanitarian or civilian organisations.When attached on vehicles during transportation, panels protect the men and property inside the vehicles.

Innovative Aspects:
Compared to traditional sand bags, this system is significantly easier,
lighter and much faster to use. It makes it possible to protect mobile troops effectively. Two kinds of modules make it possible to construct numerous types of structures. By using supporting legs and frames, the number of
possibilities yet increases and size of the structures rise.

Intelligent quick coupling method makes constructing and dismantling
easy and fast. With these locks panels can be hung to any suitable
bar/tube, for instance outside of a vehicle or windows, etc. Main
advantages of this system are easiness and fastness of use as well as
lightness of the modules.
